Characters
Captain John
Boorish, egotistical, rash and insensitive - all the best qualities you’d wish for in the captain of the first manned mission to Mars. John comes from a long line of equally boorish and rash captains, so he feels his behavior is not only justified, but necessary. This puts him at odds with Asimov, an artificial intelligence robot designed to interact with a human counterpart in order to successfully interact with the Martian environment. John would be lost without Asimov, but that doesn’t stop him from treating him like a coffee maker.
A.S.I.M.O.V
The first fully functioning artificial intelligence of the 21st century, A.S.I.M.O.V (normally referred to as “ASIMOV”) was named after the famous science fiction writer who first wrote about robots. Asimov functions far beyond what that author would have ever dreamed, having emotions and a full fledged personality. Unfortunately, this personality was developed based on his creator, a cynical and reclusive scientist who couldn’t stand egotistical space captains.
ASIMOV is an acronym for “Artificial Service Intelligence Mobile Operating Vehicle.” Although, he might take issue with the “service” designation.
Ugo and Olaf
Ugo and Olaf are an odd set of brothers who live in the Dome beyond the ridge. Ugo seems to be the more… stable… of the two, and seem to be the main ambassador for Mars to John and ASIMOV.
